I have four years of experience as a technology mentor. I worked for Center for Teaching and Learning at LaGuardia Community College in New York. I prepared technology workshops and trained faculty and students on various software and hardware packages. I designed numerous web sites at the college, and I published digital media online. My previous job required me to go on educational field trips with a digital camera and video recorder. I shot many events and worked with the images by using image editing programs such as Photoshop, Macromedia Fireworks and other tools. I also worked with the sound files with Sound Forge and digital movies with Windows Movie Maker. I led and managed many web projects. I prepared web design workshops for faculty and students at the college. My Staff Profile

Information technologies and computer have made revolution in education. We cannot think life and education without computers and Internet. Student and teachers are responsible for learning this technology. Otherwise, we cannot lead our society.

LaGuardia Community College is a very good example. Teachers attend technology workshops and trained by Student Technology Mentors (STM) and Isntructional Design Assistans (IDA). They learn advance technology and bring this technology to a classroom environment. Now, most of the teachers at LaGuardia have online courses, webpage, and they are more knowledgeble about educational technology. They are learning technology to teach better. This is a wonderful thing for our society, students, teachers and others.

LaGuardia Community College was one of the three colleges nationwide to receive a prestigious honor recognizing innovative faculty-training programs that enhance classroom instruction and student learning. Winner: 2004 Theodore M. Hesburgh Award Certificate of Excellence.

STMs and IDAs play very important roles for learning and teaching at LaGuardia. They are connecting faculty and students with technology. Their role in LaGuardia is like a bridge among students, faculty and technology.

I feel that all college and universities need technology mentors because they play important roles for learning and teaching at a college. Technology mentors are connecting students and faculty with technology.
